The International Sewing Club  does not receive any federal funding and depends entirely on contributions from individuals and organizations for financial support.  Your gifts and contributions cover the cost of purchasing sewing machines and English language learning books for our students, as well as sewing supplies and other operational costs.  International Sewing Club is a 501 (c) (3) corporation and all donations are tax deductible as allowed by law.

The International Sewing Club is always in need of volunteers.  The following are just some of the ways that you can help out.  We guarantee that you will find the experience fun and rewarding.  All classroom volunteers must be female.  To inquire about volunteer opportunities, please contact Erin at (615)506-4760.

Be a sewing teacher:

We need women to help with one-on-one sewing instruction.  As a sewing teacher at ISC, you will sit with students and help them learn basic sewing skill such as threading and operating a sewing machine,  You will also help students read and follow commercial sewing pattern as they make clothing for themselves and their families.  You don't have to be a master seamstress to be a sewing teacher.  Basic sewing knowledge is all that is required.

Be an English tutor:

As an English tutor for the ISC you will meet with individual students during the class and help guide them through their English language learning workbook.  By helping women to better develop English speaking and reading skills, you are making life easier for them as they apply for jobs, help children with homework, apply for citizenship  and further interact with their new culture.  This is a very important aspect of our organization and it is an opportunity that you will find to be exceptionally rewarding.

Help us stay organized:

Do you have a knack for keeping things organized?  Sewing and crafts can be very messy!  Volunteer once a month to help us sort donations and keep our store room clean and in order!

The following is a list of acceptable donations.  If you would like to make a donation, contact Erin (615)506-4760.  Donations can be picked up from any location in the Nashville Area.
